Life on the Borderline
About 5 months ago I was diagnosed with BPD, or Borderline Personality Disorder. Previous to that, I had been treated for depression for over 8 years, but even with successful treatment, there was always something that wasn’t quite right (you will frequently hear me refer to it as the Dark Wolf). But with the help of two incredible therapists, I’ve finally got a name for what has been hanging over me like a dark storm all of my life.
When I started to learn about BPD, I recognized myself immediately in the information I uncovered. Finally, I had a name for what I was struggling with, and more importantly, now that I knew the nature of the beast that was tearing at me, I could learn how to fight it. I could learn how to tame it. I could learn how to be the woman I have always wanted to be…
This promises to be a long journey, but an important one. A vital one. One that I would like to share with others. Hopefully, my journey towards healing will help others like me who find themselves at the mercy of their emotions, or help their loved ones understand a little more about what life is like on the borderline.
